Sing a Song of Bird (The Music of Charlie Parker)

Roseanna Vitro sings and brings to life new lyrics to the late Charlie Parker’s bebop compositions with a swinging cast of musicians and vocalists; Queen of Bebop, Ms. Sheila Jordan, Maestro Bob Dorough (last recording), Marion Cowings, Gary Bartz, Alan Broadbent, Dean Johnson, And Alvester Garnett.

Though this is a first recording, Vitro shows herself a mature jazz singer. Vitro decided to re-release LISTEN HERE because the time was right. She and her husband Paul Wickliffe, an accomplished sound engineer with a storied career, recently became grand- parents. Their perspective has changed. “It was time to take stock of my life and look back at my career,” she says. “Some of my earlier records were never transferred to a digital format, so they are no longer available. And many reviewers and DJ’s who have known me over the years have moved on. I think these early recordings stand the test of time, and I want to introduce them to a new generation.”


TELL ME THE TRUTH

Roseanna's fourteenth recording is a return to her Southern Roots.  The title track of this program is a tribute to vocalese composer, the late John Hendricks.  His lyrics address the social issues of yesterday and today.  This is a soulful, groove oriented program featuring songs by Allen Toussaint, Mose Allison, Mavis Staples, even a gospel closer with guest vocals.


THE MUSIC OF CLARE FISCHER

Clare Fischer was a brilliant American composer, arranger, and pianist who inspired two generations of pianists.  Roseanna Vitro along with pianist Mark Soskin re-invent two of his jazz classics Pensativa and Morning with their Grammy-Nominated  group featuring star violinist, Sara Caswell.  Roseanna created a vocal book on their recordings with lyrics to Clare's compositions for students and new audiences to appreciate the genius of the late Clare Fischer.

A complete program of re-invented arrangements by pianist, Mark Soskin and vocalist, Roseanna Vitro.   This five piece group boasts the rising star violinist, Ms.Sara Caswell, just off of her tour with Esperanza Spalding.   With Vitro's rhythm section of several tours bassist great, Dean Johnson and Tim Horner on drums this group will present fresh music which any classical, jazz or pop audience will fall in love with.  The RNP band also presents concerts featuring jazz standards from Roseanna's previously recorded albums plus some of the Randy Newman material.

Orchestral Americana

A program rich in Americana,  Blue Skies,  Old Devil Moon,  Dreamsville,  plus the Brazilian majesty of Milton Nascimento's Cancao Do Sal and Joni Mitchell's The Circle Game.  This program was a televised Christmas special in Slovenia in 2001 and Aaru, Switzerland Youth Orchestra April 2010.
