Vocal Jazz Workshops & Master Classes

Roseanna has worked with singers age 13 to100, in the realms of jazz, opera, pop and the theater.

Her methods emphasize the holistic, finding who you are in the creative world of singers. That is, the disciplines surrounding confidence, good musicianship, singing and performance: breath management, story-telling, rhythm, improvisation (scatting with both syllables and lyrics), repertoire, group leadership, performance, making your recording and overall utilization of the whole self.

She enables vocalists to discover their potential.

She began teaching Vocal jazz in 1998, following 26 years of performance and recording. Her music can be found on a multitude of labels and channels, including Concord, Telarc, Skyline, Half Note and Chase Music.

After years of leadership – which includes her recent supervision of the Jazz for Teens program at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Vitro created a four-year, Masters Degree program for Jazz Vocalists at New Jersey City University.

She has served as Jazz Ambassador for the U.S. State Department twice – in conjunction with the Kennedy Center (2004), and Lincoln Center (2009). Her workshops have taken her to South America, The Balkans, Kazakhstan, New Zealand and South Korea.

Roseanna’s clinic at HSPVA was absolutely delightful! What I enjoyed the most was that the invaluable information she presented applied not only to vocalists, but to instrumentalists as well.  Her delivery kept everyone’s rapt attention, and she received many compliments from the students afterward.  She is a great jazz vocalist and a wonderful educator.
— Warren Sneed, Director of Jazz Studies, HSPVA - Houston, Texas
Her perfomance was supurb and the students still talk of her honest and down-to-earth sharing with them in comments. It is a rarity to have a fine singer on campus who will take the soul time to communicate to talented students who are hungry for the experienced view on the music business and life in general.
— Paris Rutherford, Director University of North Texas State Jazz Singers, Denton, TX
